52 Lists // Week 20

I love this week's 52 Lists!! I am constantly over flowing with ideas with stuff to make or do. This summer I have a lot of projects to work on. I haven't finished setting up my jewelers workbench, I need to set up my screen printing press and Lulu and I have a lot of handmade items we are going to be adding to Sorcery. I also want to take a lot of trips. I have been planing on attending shroom fest in Telluride, CO and Sedona just happens to be on the way! I have been dying to go there for years. Palm Springs also has some amazing deals during the summer and since its so close I want to go at least once! What are your summer plans?

DIY Hair Rinse

I originally got this idea from my mom. She would always tell me how when she was young her mother would wash her hair with crushed herbs in the river. People would always ask how her hair was so shiny and it was from all natural, herbal shampoo! I've been seeing a lot of these recipes for hair rinse on pinterest and on other blogs. I found this recipe on the Mountain Rose Herb blog. It explains that you hair needs a few weeks to get used to the hair rinse. Your hair, just like your face produces more oil when you strip it away with harsh cleansers. So when you stop using regular shampoo your hair still continues to produce a lot of oil preparing for the shampoo to wash it away. But it also says its worth the wait. And you only need to use it once a week. I will be using this hair rinse for a few weeks and keeping you guys updated on whats going on with my hair!

Rose & Chamomile Hair Rinse

1.5 c of chamomile tea (very strong)
1 c of rose tea (very strong)
1 Tbsp baking soda

There is also two other recipes on the Mountain Rose Herb blog with rosemary & cocoa nibs (for dark hair) and nettle leaf & lavender essential oil. I was about to make the dark hair recipe...I keep forgetting I have red hair! This recipe is supposed to be good for lighter hair and for making highlights stand out in darker hair.

Directions

either let soak for 5 minutes in hair, or use the two bowl method. let hair hang over bowl and pour over your entire head, letting it drain into bowl. pour that bowl over your head into the second bowl, alternating bowls until your hair feels clean. rinse with cool water and let air dry!

I am looking forward to shiny healthy hair! And I realize that i use chemicals on my hair to dye it which probably messes up the PH and is highly damaging but I have to work on that. I really dont like my boring brown hair....

Shop Update

I haven't been posting many jewelry pictures lately, unless you follow me on instagram. I feel like I take most of my pictures on my phone these days. I brought out my regular camera today and took some pictures around the yard, and of these amazing earrings I have been working on for the past few days. Winter and fall are my favorite seasons, mostly because I hate hot weather, but I love seeing all the flowers around my house blooming. The bees are buzzing overhead, and the last of the blossoms are gathering all over the floor. I am going to be doing a total shop makeover soon, and streamlining what I carry in the shop. Also be on the lookout for new items in earth oils & sorcery! This is going to be one busy summer!!

52 Lists Week 19

This week's 52 lists was a nice change. It focused more on the outside, and how people view you rather than the inner workings. I feel like I have been told I am cold, too honest, and distant my whole life. Its funny because I am really warm hearted, sensitive, and would do anything to help someone at the drop of a hat. I wish people could see what I am really like on the inside. Also, everyone always sees me as the creative, artsy type but really I just chose to be like that. I am a pretty balanced person, and could be (almost) equally as logical, analytical, and business minded but that just doesn't call out to me or inspire me. I am always secretly jealous of people who can just be totally intuitive and spiritual all the time, because thats how I am on the inside but I don't present myself in that way. (if that makes sense?) I think it's because I am a lot more masculine than feminine. A lot of  my blogger friends are so in touch with their feminine energy, and speak of sisterhood and moon cycles when I wish I could feel the same way. (I do in a way but not completely) Aquarius's are so strange and I wish people would take me more seriously, and see me as a intuitive creative type but also someone who is articulate and capable of doing anything. I want to move from being extreme into a more balanced state. I constantly am fighting to do this.

DIY: Triangle Air Plant Hanger

I know there are a lot of terrarium or hanging glass orb DIY posts for air-plants, but I haven't seen that many on alternative ways to display them. I got the inspiration while watching yard crashers on the diy network (is anyone else addicted to these shows?). Theie version was more like a ladder style lattice that you might use to help vines grow up your wall. Why not hang them from the trees or somewhere in the yard I thought? I got the idea to use wooden dowels to make this DIY but all I had in the garage was bamboo sticks used to hold up small plants, this will do! I hope you guys love this diy I made two today but I want to make tons more and possibly in different shapes & sizes.

(oh and if you can't tell, or haven't seen it already, I used the beautiful mess app on my iphone to create this entire post!)

the bamboo sticks i used were 4 feet long, so I cut them in half, but you can use any size you wish.

i got my air plants at an estate sale with literally hundreds if not thousands of air plants, spanish moss, and other cactus plants. It was amazing but a few of the plants were a little dry and neglected so I chose to soak mine for about an hour before stringing them. This is unnecessary if your plants are healthy, just spritz them with water after hanging.

to do it this way just tie the fishing line at the top point of the triangle and wrap the line around each plant without knotting it, keeping the line taught, and add more plants along the line. Tie a knot when you reach the bottom. You can also add more plants if you wish, just do a line across horizontally, or you can even make a starburst pattern, a pentagram...anything!
